Practical utility research is at the heart of all activities carried out by Fraunhofer. Founded in 2008, as a result of a long-term collaboration between Portugal and Germany, in the fields of Science and Technology, it maintains a focus on companies as partners, promoting and developing applied research activities in an international context.

Fraunhofer was founded by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft Association (largest European research center) and the Portugal-Germany Chamber of Commerce. Adopting the successful business model operated in Germany, the association supports economic development and promotes social well-being by contributing to improving the quality of life of the people.
